Sister Anne Hannon writes:

To date, we have had numerous favours attributed to her intercession but we have nothing that Rome would accept as 'outside the ordinary'. We have presented fourteen possible miracles to the medical experts in Rome and each one has been declared unacceptable due to 'too much medical intervention'. We are praying for a case where there may be an instantaneous cure, eg. someone blind seeing, through the intercession of Catherine. I have no doubt it will happen one day soon.
Meanwhile, we are concentrating on getting Catherine more known and loved. If you or your Associates are interested, we have a Lenten Programme based on Prayer for the Sick. Please lick here to see it . It may be used by a group or as a Lenten Retreat by individuals or in whatever way suits the participants.

In the last few years there has been a renewal of interest in promoting the Cause of Catherine McAuley. This interest is expressed by Mercy Sisters and by Associates and people involved in the Mercy Ministry around the world. Every week many requests are received asking for prayers through Catherine's intercession. Catherine was proclaimed Venerable on April 9, 1990. At that point the postulator for the Cause was Martin Nolan OSA and the vice -postulator was Angela Bolster RSM. Angela died on February 2, 2005 and Anne Hannon RSM was appointed vice-postulator in her stead. Martin Nolan retired as postulator in May 2006 and Sister Brenda Dolphin RSM replaced him in September 2006.
In 2005 a committee comprised of World Mercy Congregational Representatives (called WMCR) was appointed to carry forward the work of progressing the Cause in all parts of the world where mercy sisters minister. In March 2007 on the advice of the Congregation for Causes (Rome), Brenda Dolphin appointed three vice- postulators to work with her in carrying forward the promotion of the Cause on a day-to-day basis in specifically designated areas.The vice-postulators are

Anne Hannon RSM (Ireland) for Europe/Africa
Sheila Carney RSM (U.S.) for the Americas (Canada and North, South and Central America)
Mary Duffy RSM (Australia) for Australia/ New Zealand/Philippines.
In order to assist each vice -postulator in her work an advisory board will be established in each geographical area.
On the advisory board with Anne Hannon RSM will be Dolores Magee RSM (Federation Great Britain), Catherine Quaine RSM (Institute, Great Britain) and Maura Meaney RSM (Union, Great Britain). With Sheila Carney RSM will be Diane Smyth RSM (Newfoundland). With Mary Duffy RSM will be Antonia Blake RSM (New Zealand) and Maria Villegas RSM (Philippines).
